The objective is for students to use this website as an online task sheet, to guide them through the tasks set. The children’s assessment is to research then compare and contrast the lives of women in Athens and Sparta in an analytical essay. With the children working through the process page it acts as a sort of checklist that will give them a good final result.  By following these steps lined out for the children, which include writing and submitting drafts and teaching them proper research skills will help to enhance there literacy.

 

Discover:

  •  You want the children to discover what life was like for women in ancient Athens and Sparta. The children need to be able to compare and  contrast the differences between the lives of the women from the two city states. They can do this through visiting the websites provided for them and following the process steps.

 

Answer:

  • You want the children to pose and answer their own questions as well as the ones set for them in the task. However as the facilitator you  should be able to answer questions from the children to assist them in their research and writing of the assessment.

 

Demonstrate:

  • You expect the children to show competence in being able to research then compare and contrast the lives of women in ancient Athens    and Sparta. Th children need to demonstrate the ability to write a coherent essay, that fits the essay structure we have set up for them.

 

Presentation:

  • Getting the children to submit a draft helps them build on their literacy skills through trial and error. You as the teacher can show them where they have gone wrong and help improve their writing skills, before the submit a final copy.

 

Evaluation:

  • Use the rubric given to the students on the evaluation page to assess and grade the essay presented to you.
